Michael Schlumpberger

Michael has almost 30 years of mining experience in maintenance, operations, and management.  The majority of this time, 20+ years was spent in the fertilizer industry.  He has worked in all three primary nutrients, nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium (potash).  He has experience in both surface and underground operations, in both union and non-union settings.  He has a mining engineering degree as well as a Masters in Business Administration.  He is a registered professional engineer and a registered member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (Qualified Person).  Mr. Schlumpberger is also currently the Chairman for the Society’s Professional Registration Committee.

Michael’s experience includes mine and outage planning, working with large walking draglines, bucketwheel excavators, truck shovel operations, high speed conveying, mineral processing (flotation), drying, calcining, loadout, reclamation, and talings impoundment construction.  His underground experience also includes long room and pillar mining, hoisting, ventilation, rock mechanics, and continuous haulage.  He has conducted business plan analysis project reviews, led expansion and capital projects as well as facility upgrades.   In addition Michael has led many safety and change management initiatives at various locations.
